Did you know?

With 6.2 million dogs across Spain, welcoming man’s best friend can encourage customers to stay longer and spend more money. In fact, more than half (55%) of owners claim they would stay longer at a place if they had their dog with them, and 52% said they would spend more.

If you are thinking of becoming a dog friendly establishment, we created a guide with tips on how to get the perfect atmosphere, so dog parents, their furry friends as well as customers without dogs can fully enjoy your place!

Prepare your business for being “dog friendly”

Once you have decided you are ready to make your place dog friendly, you should make sure you put all the below in place.

  1. Create a policy or guidelines, for example mapping out areas where dogs can and can’t go
  2. Add your policy or guidelines to your website
  3. If you have an Instagram account, share in your bio that you business is dog friendly
  4. Discuss with employees to ensure they are comfortable with the dog friendly policy
  5. Make sure there is enough spacing between tables to allow for dogs to enter, exit, ,sit or lie down
  6. If it’s a hot day, ensure there is access to shade or an umbrella to reduce the chance of heatstroke
  7. Provide access to water bowls especially on hot days

We have created a dog friendly sticker that you can request once you register your business on our Doggies in Town business platform. It will be sent to you to show dog owners you are a dog friendly establishment. Please send an email to clientes@doggiesintown.com to make the request.

Fun things you can do

  1. Why not have dog treats or even a dog menu on offer for your customers?
  2. Create a designated area for dog customers to sit together
  3. Create a ‘regulars’ dog wall with pictures of all the regular dog visitors you have
